How do I use the Zotero browser Connector to add references?
Answer
Install the Zotero web connector for your browser by clicking this link and the blue ‘install’ button.
Open your source in your browser. For physical books which you can’t access online, open the item listing in Library Search. For journal articles and eBooks, either open the ‘detailed record’ of the item in the database or open the PDF full text. For all other internet resources, open the webpage you are using.
Click the ‘Zotero Connector’ browser extension. Depending on the browser, this looks like a File icon or a red Capital Z and is next to the browser search bar on the right. Apple devices using the Safari browser may need to access browser settings to enable the Zotero Connector.
The first time you use the connector to save to your Web library, an error message will pop up. Click 'enable saving to online library' in the bottom left, and then click 'accept defaults' in the 'New Private Key' pop up. The Browser Connector and Web library are now linked.
When you click the Browser Connector, a small pop up in the top right of the browser will appear. The source will automatically be saved to ‘My Library’.
You should see your new source in your Zotero library. Click on the source listing to view all the bibliographic details.
