What is the School Experience collection?
Answer
The School Experience Collection is a range of books and other resources intended to support teacher education students when on placement in schools; but any Birmingham Newman student may use this resource. The bulk of the collection consists of educational books for children, and teaching resources for educators.
The collection also includes some picture fiction books for young children, fiction books for older children and teenagers, oversized books for group reading, and some Story Sacks with toys, puppets, and other objects to make story time extra exciting!
The Artefact collection has lots of objects, costumes, musical instruments, and other items which cover different areas of the curriculum. Artefacts can be borrowed to make lessons practical and hands-on. The artefacts can be borrowed at any time the Library is open; but if an item is too large to fit into the self-service kiosks, the laminated Information Sheet in the box / bag can be used to issue the item. The contents of the bag/box should be checked by the borrower before leaving the Library to ensure that all is correct and in good repair. In the event of any issues, users are requested to advise Library staff at the Service Desk.
