Why is a noisy tour happening in the quiet study zone?

Answer

Sometimes we have to relax the volume control on level 2 (the top floor), for a tour. These are to show new students or new members of staff the library facilities and to show them how to use our services.

We do have to be a bit louder during these tours so that the whole group can hear us. We try to keep them short and will always restore quiet after the tour is over. We completely understand that this can be frustrating for people working in the quiet study zones and apologise for any disruption or discomfort that these tours cause.

During tours, we don’t usually go into the silent study zones. If we’re having a day of tours and you want some peace and quiet, the silent study zones might be the best place to go.
