How do I sync my references in Zotero?

You only need to set up syncing if you are using the desktop app of Zotero. You do not need to sync if you are using the Web library of Zotero. Once you have created a free online account, open the Zotero desktop.
To sign in on desktop, click ‘Edit’, select ‘Preferences’ from the drop-down menu, and then select the ‘Sync’ tab in the pop-up menu. Input your username and password as directed, then click ‘Setup syncing’. This will open sync settings.
Click ‘OK’ to close the pop-up menu. Click the green refresh button in the top-right corner to sync any references in your online library to your desktop app.
